Account enforcement measures are implemented in response to any violations of Locals' Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, or Community Guidelines.

When reviewing reports of violations, we consider various factors, including the intent and context, potential harm to the community, legal obligations, and more.

Depending on the nature of the violation, we take a range of moderation actions, including issuing warnings, implementing shadow bans, and, for more severe offenses, deactivating accounts.

Warning

Community Impact: Violation through a single incident or a series of actions.

Consequence:

• A warning with consequences for repeated behavior.
• Persistent violations may result in a shadow ban or account deactivation.

Examples:

• Spamming group chats with invitations to personal events.
• Creating an event that clearly serves as advertising.
• Sending messages that may be considered offensive by some members of a group chat.

Shadow Ban

Community Impact: The suspicious activity, involving sustained inappropriate behavior and violations of community standards, causing distrust, disrupting positive interactions, decreasing participation, and potentially damaging the community's reputation.

Consequence:

Activity:

• The activity is restricted and not displayed in the feed. Users cannot find or join it.

User:

• Temporary ban from all interactions within the community for a defined or undefined period of time.
• The user can still make requests and send waves, but these actions will not be received by such users and others while the shadow ban is in effect.
